The tuition lesson usually started off with a practice paper (essay/case study) which helped stimulate our minds, ensuring a fruitful lesson. In particular, the best part of the lesson was when Mr. Simon would share his anecdotes, usually on current affairs, and how they relate to the concepts he was teaching in class. This not only spiced up the lessons, but also allowed me to appreciate the study of Economics, which could be applied to real world situations.
For Economics, I had problems with structuring my essays, often missing out essential points. Such a skill could not be simply learnt from textbooks, but had to be developed through constant practice. Economics Focus provided me with numerous practice opportunities and guidance to succeed at overcoming study-related hurdles.
Mr. Simon has taught me the value of not only reading widely on current issues, but also the importance of considering alternative viewpoints.Mr. Simon’s unique take on both local and global issues has inspired me to think more critically. While we often do learn many similar concepts in school, Mr. Simon has showed me that such theoretical concepts simply cannot be directly applied without prior critical analysis. Indeed, Mr. Simon has taught me the value of not only reading widely on current issues, but also the importance of considering alternative viewpoints.
